St Mark, Evangelist, Feast

SPIRITUAL CALMNESS LEADS TO VICTORY

Spiritual calmness, which is the foundation of any true and balanced spiritual attentiveness, is by no means a self-indulging inactivity. A soul could be spiritually calm amidst an intense activity. Calmness of the spirit flows from faithfulness to the the promptings of the spirit which can often be intense. Within this Calmness, the Christian is more empowered to be more aware to discern spiritual things. Without constant and ongoing spiritual discernment, spiritual victory becomes almost unattainable. 1 Peter 5: 5-15 calls us to exercise the power of our faith against the devil. But how can we do that if we are weren’t even aware of or couldn’t discern devil’s wiles. Obviously, we may not be able to avoid all attacks and wiles of the evil one. But with Spiritual Calmness accompanied with humility, many of us would be living a victorious Christian life if we could practice Spiritual Calmness and attentiveness which requires humility. May God bless his words in our hearts, through Christ Our Lord. Amen
