HOLY THUSDAY (THE LORD’S SUPPER)

The Lord's Supper

“On the same night that he was to be betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and giving thanks broke it and said, this is my body and this cup is the new covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me’. Until the Lord comes, therefore every time you eat this bread and drink this cup you are proclaiming his death”.   (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

"Today’s liturgical celebration invites us to contemplate the mysteries and the gifts of the Eucharist, Holy Orders (i.e. Priesthood) and the Christian Service (Diakonia) impelled by fraternal charity.. In order to appreciate the nature and the source of the Christian Service, today’s celebration invites us to reflect on Jesus’  complete self-gifting and abasement in the Eucharist.  Find out more, and as you listen be drawn deeper into the mystery of this celebration".

Happy Priests’ Day to my brother priests. May the Lord help us to service worthily such a high and self-emptying office of the Priesthood of Jesus Christ.
